What's new in 2026.1?

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

AI that works harder in finance and planning

NetSuite is moving AI from insight to action across close, analytics and planning, surfacing issues earlier and reducing manual effort.

  • A new Close Manager dashboard flags risks, exceptions and missing activity in real time so teams can intervene before month-end drifts.
  • Payment date prediction on supplier invoices uses historical behaviour to support more reliable cash forecasting.
  • NetSuite Planning and Budgeting and SuiteAnalytics deliver smarter, AI-led analysis that shortens the path from question to answer.
  • AI Connector and MCP tools make it easier to plug in your own models and extend NetSuite’s built-in intelligence.

SMARTER CLOSE CONTROLS

A smoother, more controlled close

2026.1 reduces friction in period-end processes and makes outcomes more predictable for finance teams operating at scale.

  • AI-supported visibility into close tasks, variances and exceptions through the enhanced Close Manager.
  • Automatic approval of reclassification journals to simplify workflows and cut manual handling.
  • The ability to adjust posting periods on journals pending approval to keep reporting aligned with reality.
  • Stronger, more transparent audit trails across key period-end activities.

SECURITY & CONTROL

A more stable, secure platform

This release strengthens NetSuite’s foundations with tighter controls, stronger security defaults and a cleaner experience across more of the product.
  • Journal line sublists shift to a keyed structure, improving line-level accuracy and reliability for integrations and custom processes.
  • Updated authentication and OAuth controls that harden security and make integration management more robust over time.
  • Tighter session management and broader use of multi-factor authentication to better protect user access.
  • Continued rollout of Redwood UI to more pages, delivering a faster, more consistent experience across everyday workflows.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When does NetSuite roll out new releases?

NetSuite issues two major upgrades each year - typically in the first and second half of the year. These updates include platform improvements, new features and regulatory updates.

Will my account be automatically updated?

Yes. NetSuite upgrades are applied automatically during your scheduled release window. You'll be notified in advance via your NetSuite dashboard. Note that all customers are upgraded as part of NetSuite’s global release cycle. The best approach is to prepare in advance to minimise disruption.

What is the Release Preview?

The Release Preview is a temporary environment where you can test your setup against the upcoming version of NetSuite before the upgrade is applied to your live account.

Why should I test in the Release Preview?

Testing helps identify issues early before they impact your day-to-day operations. It’s also an opportunity to explore new features that could benefit your business.

What is Annexa’s NetSuite Release Impact Analysis service?

It’s a tailored 2–4 hour engagement where our consultants review the upcoming release against your specific NetSuite setup. We’ll highlight potential risks, pinpoint areas to test and flag useful new features.

What if I miss the Release Preview window?

You can still prepare for the upgrade, but without the sandbox-style testing environment. We recommend taking action early so there’s time to identify and address any issues in advance.

Can the release schedule be delayed?

Yes, you can request to delay your release to a later phase if you are in the middle of a critical project or require more time for testing. However, this option is only available up to Phase 3.

Will all new features be enabled automatically?

Not always. Some features are auto-enabled, while others require setup, configuration or activation. If you opt for the release preview analysis service, we’ll flag these if they’re relevant.

How early can you access the Release Preview?

You can typically access the Release Preview environment about one month before your scheduled upgrade. In some cases, it may be available earlier upon request through the NetSuite interface (Setup >> Company >> Release Preview).
